We currently have a great opportunity for
Kitchen Assistant to join our Care Plus team at The Sandford Nursing Home, Church Stretton, Shropshire on a part-time, permanent basis.
The Sandford Nursing Home is a place our residents call home. It's a happy, welcoming atmosphere set amongst the Shropshire hills with luxurious accommodation and expert, nursing-led care and we're looking for caring and supportive individuals to join us. We’re looking for a dedicated professional to bring our values to life and ensure our customers receive outstanding services.
The Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will assist with the preparation of meals and snacks for residents within guidelines laid down by the Home Manager and Cook. You will ensure the service delivered promotes the independence, dignity, rights and choices of the people that we work with.
Typical duties include simple food preparation, carrying out general dining room duties including laying and clearing tables, transporting meals to dining room and other locations, washing up items used in the kitchen area and maintaining cooking and storage areas in a clean and tidy state in line with cleaning schedules.
Skills and experience required:
Holds Food Safety Level One or willingness to undertake training
Previous experience of working with older people
Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise work schedule.
Good verbal communication and written skills
A commitment to the understanding of good customer service
Ability to form positive relationships with colleagues
Values diverstiy and commitment to equality of opportunity
Manual handling of delivered ambient goods
Knowledge of COSHH
Ability to commute within no more than 1 hour distance of the role location
Due to the nature of this post, the role is subject to an Enhanced with Adult Barred DBS disclosure.
