The Sandford Nursing Home, Church Stretton, Shropshire is a place our residents call home. We currently have a great opportunity for a Care Assistant to join our Care Plus team at The Sandford Nursing Home on a permanent basis. We’re looking for a caring, dedicated professional to bring our values to life and ensure our customers receive outstanding services.

The Role

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will work within the nursing team assisting elderly residents with normal activities of daily life, promoting their independence and maintaining their dignity and respect.

You will assist Managers and Registered Nurses with standard setting and Maintenance of such within the home and work as part of the management team, therefore in your capacity as Senior Carer / Team Leader confidentiality and loyalty to management must be paramount. You will help with continual training and education of new and junior care staff, assisting with their induction / orientation and helping them become a useful member of the nursing team, working to expected standards and procedures. You will also assist with staff supervision 6 times per year under guidance of manager and qualified staff and assist Registered Nurses with work and task allocation and general supervision of less experienced staff.

Skills and experience required:

  • The ability to work with in a team and independently
  • Previous experience in providing a quality care service for people
  • A commitment to delivering quality care to vulnerable adults
  • Excellent verbal, written and face-to-face communication skills
  • Caring attitude with desire to help and support others
  • Care home experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to commute within no more than 1 hour distance of the home
  • Due to the nature of this post, the role is subject to an Enhanced with Adult Barred DBS disclosure.
